Live from the historical site! Through your guide’s words, your Vatican experience will be unforgettable.
You will learn about the life of Michelangelo, the creation of the Sistine Chapel and behind the scenes facts. Our guides will explain, playfully, the most important story of the Italian Renaissance: the creation of the 12,000 square foot (ca. 1,115 m²) ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by the “extraordinary” Michelangelo Buonarroti.
The tour will cover the main galleries and a quick visit to the Egyptian room to see….the Mummy of the Vatican Museums! The Sistine Chapel is one of those places where everyone, young and old, can learn and make a discovery.
The amazing story of a sculptor chosen to be a painter and succeeding in the biggest challenge of his life is very suitable for children and will be a surprising discovery for your kids!
What will we visit?
We will visit the entry courtyard with a stunning view of the Dome of St. Peter’s. At the start, your tour guide will be local, licensed and will interact especially with your children explaining to them the adventurous story of Michelangelo, the popes and the incredible creation of the Sistine Chapel! At the start, the entire family will have an overview of the story of Peter and its tomb.
As the Sistine Chapel is at the end of the galleries of the museums, your guide will find a comfortable place is the courtyard of the Pinecone to prepare the kids to the paintings. Being a church, the chapel is not a place to chat too much, that is why the guide will tell the story before entering, using visual support in order to have time to answer all your questions.
As the explanation of the Chapel will be over, you’ll quickly go through the main galleries of the Museums (The Gallery of the Statues, The Gallery of the Tapestries and The Gallery of the Maps) to reach and spend time in the Chapel.
IMPORTANT: this tour is short and focused on the kids and the story Chapel. If you wish to know more about the museums, please book a CLASSIC VATICAN MUSEUMS TOUR.
At the end of the time in the Sistine Chapel, according to Museums schedule and availability, you will either finish the tour in St. Peter’s square or inside the Sistine Chapel.
IMPORTANT: the passage way that connects the chapel to the basilica is open upon museums’ direction discretion, therefore it is not guaranteed. If you want to visit St. Peter’s church with your guide, check this tour.

This Vatican Museums Tour for Kids is designed for families with parents who love art but are worried about boring their children. We want to keep the family together and be able to give an exciting art experience for all different ages.
You’ll skip the line and enter the Museum right away – just a quick security check – and the tour will be ready to start.
PLEASE NOTE: this Vatican Museums for kids tour is specifically focused on the Sistine Chapel and is very “light” so as not to overload children with too much information. If you wish to have a deeper knowledge of the Vatican Museums and of St Peter’s Basilica, please ask for a Vatican Standard Tour.

- DRESS CODE: no shorts – no uncovered knees and shoulders, no backpacks.
- IMPORTANT: Tickets and headphones (compulsory for 5 or more people, price 1.50 euro each) are not included in the priceVatican Museums admission tickets price:

CHILDREN up to 18 yo or students under 26 y.o.: 15 euros
- After paying the deposit to secure the tour, we will send you the online booking procedure to get your admission tickets or buy tickets for you upon request.
- Kids Tours are not eligible for discounts.
- From June to October and extra fee of 15% will be added on last minute requests (3 days before the tour date).

Starting price for a private tour 2,5 hrs for 2 adults: 390 euro + tickets but definitive price is provided *only* upon request.
Price can be reduced during low season or increased during holiday, peak dates or last minute request.
