S.U.P.E.R. stands for: Seven Unique Places to Experience in Rome,
and that’s very true!
What’s the SUPER ticket?
The SUPER ticket is a skip the line cumulative 2 days ticket that allows you to enjoy some specific sites both at the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill enhanced with projections, light mapping and voice narration, together with the usual Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
If you want to see the whole of the SUPER sites, it takes you two days and it doesn’t matter how fast you walk: some sites can be seen the first day of validation, others the second.
The specific sites at the Palatine Hill are: House of Augustus, House of Livia, Neronian Cryptonporticus and Aula Isiaca with Loggia Mattei open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9am until 6.30pm and Sunday from 9am until 2pm.
The specific sites at the Roman Forum are: Temple of Romulus, and Santa Maria Antiqua with Oratory of the forty martyrs and Domitian ramp open on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday from 9am until 6.30pm and Sunday from 2pm until 6.30pm.
Very Important: Throughout the 2 days of validity, you can’t mix the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill specific sites. One day for the former ones, the other day for the latter ones or vice versa of course.
What if I buy the SUPER ticket on site and how does it work?
Since it’s not compulsory to book it in advance, you can go at the entrance of the Colosseum or Roman Forum and buy the 18€ SUPER ticket BUT since it’s big and famous venue, as we all know, there is gonna be a long line.
TIP: go very early and chose the less crowded Roman Forum ticket office.
You validate it and enjoy the 2 days.
You choose if you want to visit that day the Roman Forum specific sites OR the Palatine Hill’s.
The only sites with a fixed time and a small quota entrance are the Palatine Hill’s House of Augustus and the House of Livia because are the only two with Italian or English video projection.
Since you can’t mix the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill specific sites, you have to visit the House of Augustus and the House of Livia the very same day.
House of August: the english speaking video projection slot (40min. approx.) are at 9.30am, 11.40am, 2.20pm and 5pm
House of Livia: the english speaking video projection slot (30min. approx.) are at 9.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm
The risk is that the slots might be full.
At the end of the first day, remember to keep the SUPER ticket, since you are probably going to use it the next day.
What if I buy the SUPER ticket in advance and how does it work?
The ticket will cost you 20€ instead of the 18€ if you buy it on site.
The only sites you can actually book in advance are the Palatine Hill’s House of Augustus and the House of Livia because are the only two with Italian or English video projection.
Since you can’t mix the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill specific sites, you have to book in advance the House of Augustus and the House of Livia for the very same day.
House of August: the english speaking video projection slot (40min. approx.) are at 9.30am, 11.40am, 2.20pm and 5pm
House of Livia: the english speaking video projection slot (30min. approx.) are at 9.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm
That’s the weird part:
If you want to see only one of the two, you can purchase the ticket at the COOPCulture website.
In fact if you book both Livia’s and Augustus’ House through the website, you are forced to purchase the ticket twice… (we told that’s the weird part)
In case you want to experience both of them, you can contact the call center at 0039 06 39967700. We know it’s strange, but yes, that’s the way it is 😉 and yes, that’s why we are writing this post to help you.
Once you’ve purchased the SUPER ticket you receive an email from COOPCulture with the voucher of the SUPER ticket and the reservation of the House of Augustus and/or the House of Livia.
On the day of the reservation, bring the voucher and collect the ticket at the entrance of the Colosseum or Roman Forum.
At the end of the first day, remember to keep the SUPER ticket, since you are probably going to use it the next day.
It seems a bit complicated. Do you have any suggestion?
Yes we do 🙂
Allow us to say that the SUPER ticket is great but it may indeed seem a bit complicated.
If you want to enjoy our skip the line Colosseum – Roman Forum – Palatine Hill glorious tour we can tailor the experience to fit your needs and most of all, help you step-by-step in the purchase of the SUPER ticket in order to create a perfect schedule.
Our skip the line Ancient Rome morning tour is set at 8:30 am until 11:30 am, in perfect timing with the 11:40 am slot for the english speaking video projection at the House of Augustus. Then you could enjoy the House of Livia at 1:30pm.
We know it’s a 1 hour wait between Augustus’ house and Livia’s, at lunch time then!
We suggest you to bring something easy to eat under the shadow of a Palatine Hill tree perhaps and consider that the two houses are definitely fresh places where you will be spending the after lunch. 😉
Otherwise we can tailor the tour in order to make the wait very short, starting at 10 am until 1 pm. The 30 minutes House of Livia english speaking video projection is at 1:30 pm and the Augustus’ one at 2:40 pm.
Even if it’s a very short wait, we have to warn you that the Ancient Rome open air tour in this case would be at the peak of the morning heat.
If you want enjoy our skip the line Ancient Rome summer afternoon tour set at 3:30 pm, you can use the SUPER ticket late in the morning and then easily meet us at a specific meeting point we give you.
It’s gonna be a SUPER season in Rome, enjoy it with us!
🙂
Hello,
Thank you so much for the information. I was going nuts about this super ticket because, as you said, when you try to buy the tickets and book the houses, you pay double! it is 80 euros to both houses for a couple! So if I buy and book just one house I can call them and book the other one with no charges, right?
Thank you once again!
Yes, so it seems.
Unless they changed something again in the last month. If so, let us know.
So far it worked this way
We are happy it helped 🙂
Hi,
Thank you for explaining all of this. The website did not explain that the SUPER sites were only available on certain days. I mistakenly reserved our visit to the House of Augustus for Sunday, the first day of our SUPER ticket tours. Does that mean I can’t see the special sites at the Forum unless I go see them on Saturday? Am I locked into the Palatine Hill on Sunday, or can I just go to the Palatine Hill and the SUPER sites on Monday?
I am grateful for any information you can provide.
Dear Joey thank you for your messagge.
For what we know on Monday the special sites for super tickets are not accessible.
You can go on Sunday afternoon or Monday (please check closure time by calling them since I am afraid is very early) or Saturday afternoon.
You can use your tickets twice so you can go Saturday and Sunday for instance.
Please remember they we are not Coopculture, we just try to figure out the best way to access the sites and help you with it but we are not the official provider so our information can be not up to date.
We strongly think it’s like we explained though.
We hope you’ll manage to see everything and wish you a great stay.
Francesca
